Recent research in educational psychology, cognitive psychology, and neuropsychology help us to understand how memory, assimilation of knowledge, attention, learning strategies, and concentration (self-regulation) affect learning. This research shows that the ability of students to participate in the study of information, to actively use it from the experience of their own knowledge, to use it to solve problems. Research shows that students can learn “how” to learn (learning strategies), control, and learn their learning (mutual understanding).

Such research focuses on how students learn when working individually with teachers, educators, and trainers. However, recent studies on situational emphasis have focused on social content and viewed the study as the result of group collaboration (Greino, Collins-Resnick, 1996). Research on group learning in schools has begun to identify the most appropriate conditions for conceptual learning by cooperative groups. Cohen (1994) found that co-operative groups with tasks that require collaboration, provide severe structural challenges, provide initial training in group work, and require very little teacher supervision. Cooperative group learning can play an important role in achieving conceptual learning. For example, Kurilsky-Whitrock (1992) found that, in collaboration with factions, upper-class students increased their level of communication between the “abstract subject” of their experience by 30 percent.
